A priest has been jailed for 33 years after being convicted of abusing two teenage boys.

The Rev Michael Collins, 64, of St Mary’s Catholic Church in Dundalk, pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to two counts of sexual assault and one of indecent assault in 2006 and 2007.

One of those victims was a nine-yea카지노r-old boy who was abused by Collins.

The second victim was a girl aged between 15-17 when the abuse was committed.

Collins was jailed for 33 years and one day on Wednesday. His sentence includes 12 years for each count of indecent assault.

The priest was already serving a seven-year term for a similar offence from 2005 when he first entered the Archdiocese of Dublin’s youth services programme. He was not the subject of a previous investigation into sexual abuse allegations.

Judge Ola Ford said Collins was extremely dangerous to the community because of his past «as he is more adept at exploiting vulnerable young people».

Judge Ford gave Collins a four-year sentence as part of a deal which saw him released for good behaviour and had his licence revoked for two years and an 18-month period after he was sent to prison.

Collins was arrested in February 2006 and pleaded guilty on February 17 2007 to 11 charges of indecent assault, three of indecency with a child and two of indecent assault by penetration.

Judge Ford said there were some parallels between the circumstances at the time the abuse happened and Collins’s current behaviour, but stresse여수출장안마d there was also an important difference between the abuse that took place when the young man was a priest in 2007 and that incident when the boy was a boy in 2006.
